Wonderful Oasis

Historic old house. A friendly vibe in this family-run business. Great breakfast and friendly people and service. Lovely garden with a swimming pool. Free parking. Conveniently located close to the Cenote Zaci and the city center. Overall good value for money.

We stayed for two nights this past July. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Valladolid. It just wouldn’t be right. Senor and Senora Sosa are the most beautiful people. They always go out of their way to make all of their guests feel special with their cozumel jet board tours suggestions. The staff is outstanding. We love them so much. They are the reason we will continue to come back to the Casa Marlene. I cry every time I leave.

We came to Casa Marlene as Casa Tia Mica was overbooked. A pleasant surprise because Casa Marlene even looked better and is next door. Free parking, great and clean rooms, delicious breakfast, excellent service, and a perfect place to walk into Valladolid.

Our daughter became ill the morning of our arrival, and the family that runs the hotel, and their staff went out of their way to accommodate her and make her comfortable. The hotel is furnished with antiques and family heirlooms which provides a unique experience. Our hosts provided dining recommendations and visitor tips. The breakfast was delicious and included mamey, a local fruit. Location is ideal, a few blocks to Cenote Zaci and the central plaza.

As others have said, this is a beautiful, tranquil oasis. When you walk through the front door, you enter a visually stunning, peaceful property. Rooms with gorgeous tile, a breakfast patio, and then the garden. We stayed here for two nights as a stopover on our way to Isla Holbox. The hotel is easy walking distance to the zocalo (town center) and also to a nearby cenote where we took a pleasant dip in the cold water.

Casa Marlene also has a small pool which was perfect for cooling off in after the intense heat of the afternoon. Our room was comfortable, large, and had great AC and a ceiling fan. The breakfast was incredibly useful, and my husband was delighted when they asked if he wanted flan for dessert!? Service was impeccable.

The rooms are spacious and well equipped – at least ours was, as for some reason the two of us had been booked into a room for 4. This room was part of the house itself. It seems as if the other places had been added at a later date. There is a beautiful small pool, and all is peaceful, orderly and restful.
